The Star

The Star Entertainment Group and its consortium partners, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium, are investing $2 billion plus on further tourism assets at The Star Gold Coast, on Broadbeach Island.

As part of the approved Master Plan for the area this will allow for more accommodation across a further four towers, new restaurant and bar precincts, increased entertainment and retail options, and lush new resort facilities.

In December 2021, a 53-storey mixed-use tower was completed which included The Star Residences as well as the internationally acclaimed Dorsett Hotel brand which opened their first hotel in Australia. The development of a second $400 million, 63-storey mixed-use tower is nearing completion.

The Gold Coast has a strong history of integrated resort developments with Sanctuary Cove leading the way in 1985 under its own specific Act and the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort at The Spit. The Star’s location next to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is well-placed to host large meetings, conferences and events and allows it to cater to a broad demographic from business tourism to family holidays.

Once completed, The Star Gold Coast will have expanded to 3000 hotel rooms and apartments, becoming Australia's largest accommodation resort. It will exceed the world-renowned Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and be on a scale similar to the largest integrated resorts in Las Vegas. This substantial investment indicates the confidence in the wider Gold Coast tourism and business market to continue to grow over the next decade.
