Education

The most affordable student city in Australia

Our education sector spans universities, Technical and Further Education (TAFE), private language schools and a growing network of private and public schools. We offer one of the highest concentrations of tertiary study options in Australia.

In collaboration with the Queensland Government and industry, we are working hard to ensure our education offerings keep up with our growing population.

Providing places for students and their families to live will be a key driver of the sector's success in future years. Gold Coast tertiary education providers are investigating opportunities to work with the private sector to deliver purpose-built student accommodation.

Three world-class universities

For over 10 years, Bond University has been rated number one for student experience in Australia. Southern Cross University has achieved world-class results in research, rankings, student satisfaction and overall reputation.

Griffith University (pictured), our largest tertiary institution, is positioned among the top research universities. Located at the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct which includes the state-of-the-art Queensland Academy of Health Sciences.

Along with universities, the city’s TAFE campuses play a significant role in supporting employment and industry collaboration across core health, construction, retail and tourism sectors.
