The Surfers Paradise Transit Centre is earmarked for redevelopment into a new venue for audiences of up to 3000 people.

The opportunity

The Surfers Paradise Transit Centre is earmarked for redevelopment as a versatile music and town hall style venue for audiences of up to 3000 people. There is a current gap in venues of this size on the Gold Coast. It is envisaged the venue would host live music, civic and community events, cabaret shows, private events, award ceremonies and banquets. It would include food and beverage, a laneway style outdoor area and co-working spaces for allied industry.

The City is in the early stages of market engagement.

Background

A music hall initiative supports the City’s Music Action Plan 2021 (MAP) and underlies the objective to grow the number, capability and reputation of the city’s music infrastructure.

An initial feasibility study on the Surfers Paradise Transit Centre property on Beach Road supported the redevelopment of the site into a versatile venue. It is a prime position in the heart of the city’s international tourist hub. The City is also investing in the revitalisation of Surfers Paradise with plans to upgrade Cavill Mall.

The Gold Coast Music/Town Hall concept is another initiative to bring the locals back to Surfers Paradise and rekindle our love for our tourist heart.
